Zitat Anthem/Atlantic recording group Rush has announced the upcoming release of their eagerly anticipated new single. "Caravan" -- which will be featured on the legendary band's forthcoming album, "CLOCKWORK ANGELS" -- will be available at all DSPs on June 1st and serviced to radio simultaneously.
"Caravan" will be bundled with an additional new album track, entitled "BU2B." Both tracks were recorded earlier this year in Nashville with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, The Deftones), who previously collaborated with Rush on 2007's critically acclaimed "SNAKES & ARROWS." Rush will return to the studio to resume recording after the completion of the upcoming "Time Machine Tour," with plans to release their 20th studio album, "CLOCKWORK ANGELS," in 2011. ...

Zitat Geddy spoke about the Moving Pictures album, the Rush documentary, and the future of the band along with many other subjects including this bit regarding a possible tour DVD:
Zitat We record every night. We don't film every night but we have a lot of cameras around. So invariably by the time this show [Geddy may have meant to say this tour] is finished we'll put together some sort of live representation of it. What form that will take I'm not sure yet.
Geddy also had this update regarding the band's upcoming Clockwork Angels album:
Zitat The new album is still in production. We've recorded 2 songs so far. One of them called Caravan and the other one called Brought up to Believe [BU2B]. That's the beginning 2 songs of a whole kind of a concept album called Clockwork Angels. We have four other songs - five songs written but not recorded yet. And we still have a couple more songs that we want to write and then put the whole thing together. So I don't think the album will be ready for about a year.
[...]In this interview Alex was asked about the new album and whether there was a possibility of some long songs being on it:
Zitat Anything can happen. There exists a good possibility that we'll have longer songs on the next album. We've written six songs, and one is approximately nine minutes. I think we'll have some "epic" songs on the album. It's not that we're trying to go back to the past, or to think about the future, it's more a question of what we feel and we write at the moment. (NOTE: katskahnne's translation)
Zitat MusicRadar.com recently conducted an interview with Rush producer Nick Raskulinecz. Nick talks about his road to becoming a Grammy-winning record producer, the current state of the music industry, and the various bands he's worked with including Rush. He describes how he landed the gig to produce Rush's Snakes & Arrows album and when asked about his work with Rush on their upcoming Clockwork Angels album he had this to say:
Zitat ... There's going to be a lot of cool stuff. We've got six other songs ready to record, and they're probably going to want to write some more when they finish this tour. We'll sit down and figure out how to record everything else. I can already tell you that the title track is going to be one of the coolest things they've ever done. It's going to be epic.
I told them, 'Don't try to write a single. Don't try to do anything conventional. Give me Rush from back in the day.' They don't need to write something for the sake of radio play. They're Rush! [laughs] So I think the record is going to be a little more bare bones, a little less produced. It's going to be more direct, with killer riffs, solos, pounding drums and Geddy singing up high the way he should. That, to me, is the sound of Rush. ...
Teil der Time Machine Tour gibt. So interpretier ich das "they're probably going to want to write some more when they finish this tour" jedenfalls
Zitat I think we’re looking at eight or nine songs as the magic number. [...] We’ll take a short break in the summer, start recording in September and hopefully have the new album out for the start of the next tour, which would be in the spring of 2012.
Zitat ... We've got about - I guess - 3/4 of the record written and are kind of ready to go. We've got 2 or 3 more tracks we'd like to write. We've kind of run out of time now. We're gonna have to go on tour so when this tour is over we'll get back to writing and hopefully finish the record in the Fall. ... We're having fun with it. I mean - you know - there are some very complex moments. There are some very beautiful moments. It's kind of what you'd expect from Rush I guess - a little bit of everything. Now the indication you can get from the first 2 songs kind of sets the tone for where we're going with this record. But there are a few surprises as you get deeper into the record.
you are planned and you are damned in this brave new world
