Wie bereits vor wenigen Wochen publiziert, haben sich Jim Matheos (aktuelles Mitglied der Prog Rock Powerhäuser Fates Warning und OSI) und John Arch (ehemaliger Sänger von Fates Warning) zusammengetan, um mit ARCH/MATHEOS eine neue Progressive Rock Band aus dem Boden zu stampfen! Die Band, welche von Joey Vera am Bass, Bobby Jarzombek am Schlagzeug und Frank Aresti an der zweiten Leadgitarre komplettiert wird, begann mit den Schlagzeugaufnahmen am 12. Januar und hatte schließlich bis Mitte Februar alle Spuren eingespielt. Als Produzent fungierte Jim Matheos höchstpersönlich!
ARCH/MATHEOS haben nun mit Sympathetic Resonance den Titel des anstehenden Debütalbums verraten, welches am 9. (DE/AT/CH/IT/SE) bzw. 12. September (Rest Europa) über Metal Blade Records veröffentlicht wird!
Jim Matheos über den Kompositions- und Aufnahmeprozess zu Sympathetic Resonance: “I think John and I work really well together. There's a lot of mutual respect and trust in what we do. But, we're also both very critical of ourselves, and each other. This can make for a long and, sometimes, tedious process. But ultimately it's one I enjoy because I think it brings out the best in both of us.”
John Arch fügt hinzu: “When I first heard some of the arrangements Jim had written and recorded, it took quite some time before I could wrap my mind around the odd time signatures and guitar work going on here. There are some long compositions, so putting anxiety and apprehension on the back burner it was time to dissect these numbers into digestible bits. After the lengthy process of lyrics and melodies, listening to the songs now, I can't imagine them any other way.”
Zu den Texten von Sympathetic Resonance befragt, meint John Arch: ”the lyrics this time around are more in line with A Twist of Fate and not of the mystical nature of some past albums.”

Diese 5 Minuten aus dem Song "Staind glas sky" hören sich sehr gut an.
Ich erwarte ein absolutes Top Prog-Album. Die Kombination Arch/Matheos bürgt für Qualität. Dazu noch die anderen erstklassigen Musiker u.a. Bobby Jarzombek.
Ich möchte nicht schreiben, dass es das Album des Jahres wird, dazu reicht ein Schnipsel nicht, aber es wird sicherlich ein Highlight in 2011.
Und wenn ich diesen Songausschnitt mit dem neuen Dream Theater-Song vergleiche, ist dieser hier weitaus spannender.
göttlich!!! aber warum verkauft man das nicht gleich als fates warning reunion? von fw selbst kommt ja nix mehr und bis auf ray alder ist es die aktuelle fw besetzung...
