EMI ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF A BRAND NEW COLLECTION FROM IRON MAIDEN 'FROM FEAR TO ETERNITY: THE BEST OF 1990-2010' ON MAY 23RD 2011
EMI are proud to announce the release of 'From Fear To Eternity: The Best Of 1990-2010'. A double-CD set spanning twenty years, this follows the huge success of 2010's studio album 'The Final Frontier' which hit the number one spot in 28 countries around the world. It also became the band's highest-charting album in the USA where Iron Maiden have just been awarded their first Grammy for Best Metal Performance, for the song 'El Dorado', taken from 'The Final Frontier' album, and which is included in this selection.
Iron Maiden's current phenomenal global success has seen the band not only scale new-found heights aided by their unique method of touring, using a customized Boeing 757 - named Ed Force One by their fans - to transport band, crew and all their equipment round the world to many new places, but has meant their ever-expanding fanbase now encompasses a brand new generation of metal lovers. 'From Fear To Eternity' is a chance for these new fans of the band to explore Iron Maiden's rich history, with the highlights of their last eight studio albums distilled into this handy collection, which follows 2009's compilation of their earlier work, the 1980-1990 'Somewhere Back In Time' album.
Perennial favourites to be found on this album include songs also featured in Maiden's current 'The Final Frontier World Tour' set list; tracks such as 'Fear Of The Dark', 'The Wicker Man', 'Blood Brothers' and 'Dance Of Death' sit alongside recent classics 'El Dorado' and the hauntingly evocative 'When The Wild Wind Blows'. Das Cover sieht ja ganz geil aus, aber wenn man Holy Smoke(um nur mal einen Song zu nennen), auf ein Best of drauf packt und einen Song wie No Prayer.... außen vor läßt, dem is nich mehr zu helfen......
Werde ich mir definitiv NICHT kaufen..........!!!

Die Songauswahl ist schon ganz in Ordnung, da statt den Singles wie "Wildest dreams" oder "Futureal" lieber "Paschendale" und "The clansman" gewählt wurden. Es war auch klar, dass nach dem Best of aus der Zeitspanne 1980 bis 1989 eine Fortsetzung folgen würde. Was ich wie bei der ersten Veröffentlichung schade finde, ist, dass Blaze Bayley's Versionen wie einst Paul Di'Anno's Versionen komplett aussen vorgelassen werden, als ob man sich für die Intermezzi geradezu schämen würde. Dabei kann Bruce Dickinson Lieder wie "Sign of the cross" oder "Wrathchild" aber nicht so gut wie im Original singen, seine Stimme ist dafür einfach zu theatralisch. So will man wieder nur der ordinären Masse imponieren.

Weiß noch nicht ob ich mir diese "From Fear to Eternity"-Best of holen werde. Denke aber, wohl eher nicht. Die Song's hat doch als Fan sowieso schon auf den eigentlichen Alben. Von daher... Und die Live-Fassungen sind doch bestimmt nicht neu, oder? Sind doch bestimmt die von der "Rock in Rio" oder so bzw. "Man On The Edge" gab es mal in einer Live-Fassung mit Bruce (Die ich übrigens stark finde.) auf einer Maiden-Single. Und die habe ich auch. Ich denke also "From Fear to Eternity" ist für mich doch nicht so interessant bzw. brauche ich nicht! Ist eher wieder was für Leute die Maiden kaum bzw. noch gar nicht kennen. Ist also mal ne Maiden-Veröffentlichung die ich wohl ignorieren werde.
Brauch ich auch nicht, aber fuer junge Fans die bis jetzt nur eine alte Best Of haben ne ganz gute Ergaenzung, kauft ja immerhin nicht jeder alle Alben. Das Cover find ich nicht schoen, zu modern, zu viel, zu wenig Charisma.
Cover gefällt mir nicht so gut. Die Songauswahl ist gut, ah ja KOMISCHERWEISE freue ich mich auf dieses Teil, weiss auch nicht wieso? Ob das ne ANkündigung ist für ne nächste "Nostalgie" Tour???
Ich finde es für mich nicht brauchbar, aber an sich ganz okay. Nur hätte ich Starblind anstatt When the wild Wind blows auf das Album gepackt. Cover ist top!
Jaja, das Cover ist wirklich geil, fast jedes album zwischen 1990-2010 ist drauf verewigt. nun mal zur tracklist. eigentlich ist die ganz geil, bloß was fehlt ist paschendale. für das hätte man holy smoke und tailgunner runter nehmen sollen. und wie schon gesagt, es ist schade das bayley aussenvor gelassen hat. somit wird das best-of verfälscht.
