Ich fasse mal kurz die wichtigste Facts aus Maiden-Fan-Sicht zusammen:
- Iron Maiden spielen definitiv beim 10. Ozzfest, also bei der entsprechenden Tournee (26 Gigs in 52 Tagen, die Tournee beginnt am 15.07. und endet am 04.09., sie findet in den USA statt) Edit: Mittlerweile ist bekannt, das Maiden "nur" bei den ersten 19 Gigs der Tournee dabei sind, also bis zum 20.08.
- Bruce kündigt an, dass beim Ozzfest nur Songs der ersten vier Maiden-Alben gespielt werden! ("Alle Songs, die wir beim Ozzfest performen, werden von unseren ersten vier Alben stammen.")
- Auf der Hauptbühne spielen: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall and Black Label Society. Da Maiden als Zweite genannt werden, sind sie wohl "Co-Headliner" und spielen immer vor Black Sabbath (Vermutung meinerseits).
- Iron Maiden sind zum ersten Mal beim Ozzfest dabei, und sie touren erstmalig gemeinsam mit Black Sabbath [Hmmh, ich habe Black Sabbath (mit DIO) mal beim Superrock in Mannheim live erlebt (Maiden als Headliner), das war ja auch 'ne Festivaltour].
- Wie "English Trooper" feststellte, bliebe aber noch zu klären, ob's beim Irland-Gig (Dublin) am 31.08. bleibt. Oder fliegt Bruce die Meute dann mit 'ner Linienmaschine nach Dublin, und das passt dann irgendwie wegen der Zeitverschiebung? Edit: Wie oben gesagt, bei den letzten 7 Gigs der Ozzfest-Tournee sind Maiden nicht mehr dabei, um vom 26. bis 31.08. die Gigs Leeds, Reading und Dublin wahrnehmen zu können.

OZZFEST -the king of festivals- triumphantly returns this summer to celebrate its hard-earned 10th anniversary with the staggering line-up of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall and Black Label Society. The summer’s premier concert festival -which has propelled many of today’s rock bands to superstardom while paying close attention to its discerning fans - will roll out July 15 in Boston and visit 26 cities by the time it reaches West Palm Beach on September 4. The Hot Topic Second Stage will be headlined by Zombie and feature a preview of rock’s rising stars, including As I Lay Dying, Mastodon, The Haunted, In Flames, Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Bury Your Dead, Soilwork, Trivium, It Dies Today, A Dozen Furies and more.
'I'm most proud of the success of Ozzfest,” says founder SHARON OSBOURNE. “Everyone said it would never happen and 10 years later we are still in business.” In fact, 125 bands, 238 shows and over 4 million fans later, the all-day extravaganza of music and deranged merriment is roaring louder than ever. History in the making, 2005 marks the first time metal legends Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden have toured together and also represents Iron Maiden’s first OZZFEST appearance.
Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson said, “This Summer’s Maiden touring is based on the recent “Early Days” DVD and all the songs we do at Ozzfest will be from our first four albums - Iron Maiden, Killers, Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind. We will be bringing over our full European show, naturally including as special guest Eddie in various appropriate guises!! The stage sets, production and backdrops will recreate aspects of the shows on the tours around those albums - only bigger… much bigger!!! We don’t know if anyone has done anything like this before but we think it’s something the fans will really appreciate both in the choice of songs and in the production values.”
Also debuting on the tour will be Texas-based band A Dozen Furies who landed their coveted Hot Topic Second Stage slot after winning OZZY and SHARON’s MTV “Battle For Ozzfest” reality series competition. Debuting last fall and lasting right up until the February launch of the fourth and final season of the Emmy-award winning “The Osbournes,” “Battle For Ozzfest” is the ultimate battle of the bands, with contestants having survived 2004’s grueling OZZFEST challenges.
This year, a limited number of fans who purchase OZZY OSBOURNE's first-ever 51-song, four-CD retrospective box set PRINCE OF DARKNESS (out March 22 of Epic Records) will be able to obtain one free Ozzfest ticket. The initial pressing of the box set will feature a precedent-setting promotion allowing fans to buy one OZZFEST general admission ticket and get one free.
OZZFEST, originally launched in 1996 as a limited two-city trek, has become a virtual breeding ground for up-and-coming bands. The renowned second stage has been instrumental in catapulting the careers of System of a Down, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Incubus, Slipknot, Disturbed, Godsmack and Chevelle. 'Playing Ozzfest --twice-- will always be among the highlights of our career,” notes drummer Samuel Loeffler of Chevelle, who most recently appeared in the festival’s 2003 line-up. “Personally speaking, I was honored and somewhat nervous about sharing the stage with Ozzy, but finally felt comfortable after both he and Sharon patted me on the ass.'
The heavy metal juggernaut has earned a hallowed position in the busiest tour season with a relentless commitment to its core fans and the consistency of quality they demand as their birthright. Just as the festival is committed to presenting the best music, it also provides an interactive, multi-sensory experience for concert-goers with a wide-range of attractions. The traveling show’s notorious “Village Of The Damned” --alive with tattoo artists, piercing booths, state-of-the-art video games, a wide range of vendors and much more-- promises to be wickedly tempting.
Judas Priest --one of the biggest attractions on last year’s tour-- declared: “We were thrilled to be part of such a unique moment in heavy metal history that will be remembered forever!” Jonathan Davis --lead singer for Korn, who pounded the main stage in 2003-- added, 'Ozzy and Ozzfest are some of the cornerstones of metal. I loved playing in front of the Ozzfest crowd, the fans at those shows were f$*#ing amazing.'
In addition to drawing vital hard rock acts, OZZFEST has always attracted a variety of select sponsors devoted to the tour’s core fan base. Hot Topic --returning to host the second stage-- will be the festival’s official soft line teen retailer. Throughout the day, Tama drums and Ibanez guitars will proudly showcase their arsenal in the Village. F.Y.E. (For Your Entertainment) is on board for the fifth consecutive year as the official music retailer and will host the FYE autograph tent giving fans the opportunity to meet some of their favorite OZZFEST artists. Hab's ja gesagt gehbat das sie dort spielen werden. Würd gerne ein Ozzfest erleben, wäre traumhaft. Gegen schluss werden sie ja nicht mehr dabei sein weil sie können kaum ein GIG in AMerika und eins in Ireland gleichzeitig spielen. ----------------------------------------------

Ich hab das ganz dumme Gefühl Maiden schiebt eine angestrebte Veröffentlichung eines neuen Studioalbums absichtlich nach hinten raus. Die spielen ja nicht nur ein paar Festivals, die machen ja ein Worldtour Package daraus. Bis September auf Tour? Dann müßte noch Bruce eine Tour machen um sein Solo Album zu promoten. Und dann ist erstmal Weihnachten und die Jungs machen Pause! Das kennen wir ja. Dann bringen sie eine neue Live CD raus, das überbrückt wieder Zeit. Und dann werden sie sich langsam ins Studio bequemen um dann mal anzufangen. Vielleicht machen sie ja noch eine "Before Studio going Tour 2006". Sorry wenn ich zynisch klinge, aber was soll das alles??? Vor Ende 2006 passiert da garnichts, paßt auf was ich sage! ____________________________________________________ "Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the devil sends the beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short..." up the irons!
Also ich muss ganz klar sagen, dass ich auch diesen Schritt von Maiden und deren Management (die Teilnahme am Ozzyfest) für genial halte! Maiden greifen nun wieder die USA an, wo sie vor 20 Jahren ("four nights in LA, Long Beach arena") die Kings waren. Danach konnten sie aber nicht mehr an ihre Erfolge anknüpfen. Auch die Rückkehr von Bruce und Adrian konnte nicht für so viel Enthusiasmus sorgen wie bei uns in Europa. Traurig, aber wahr: Ein Großteil der amerikanischen Fans wollte bei Maiden-Konzerten keine neueren Songs hören.
Ich fand's immer gut, dass Maiden ihre neuen Alben bei den entsprechenden Tourneen immer so deutlich in den Vordergrund gestellt haben (wie schon mal gesagt zum Beispiel mehr als 45 Minuten DOD-Material bei der DOD-Tour). Den amerkanischen Markt greifen sie aber nun mit der Methode an, die dortigen Fans dort abzuholen, wo sie steckengeblieben sind, nämlich in der Mitte der Achziger. Ich vermute, dass Maiden sich bei ihren Konzerten den Arsch aufreißen werden, und Bruce wird während des Konzerts sicherlich klarstellen, dass Iron Maiden keine Band von gestern ist (im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Bands, die schon lange dabei sind), sondern Bruce wird die Fans auffordern, sich das neue Live-Album zu besorgen (falls es tatsächlich kommt, Rock Hard spricht nur von Plänen). Nach einem genialen Konzert werden sie es möglicherweise auch machen.
Also: Super, dass Iron Maiden die Chance nutzen, bei den Festivals dabei zu sein. Und super auch, dass sie sich nicht zu schade sind, mal wieder nicht Headliner (des Tages) zu sein. Sie werden bestimmt alles dransetzen, Black Sabbath wie damals Kiss an die Wand zu spielen. Das dürfte doch eigentlich kein Problem sein...
Ansonsten: Es gibt wohl auch terminliche überschneidungen mit dem Reading-Festival und Leeds. Edit: Der Dublin-Termin wurde (noch) nicht verschoben, wie ich mal irrtümlich geschrieben hatte.

Dann sollten die doch lediglich EIN KONZERT aufnehmen und das beispielsweise zum Specialpreis zum 30. Bandjubiläum als Dankeschön an die Fans herausgeben. Ozzfest und ein paar Europar Daten überschneiden sich am Ende des Ozzfest's....Kommt mir sehr komisch vor denn wenn Maiden bei jedem Ozzfest in AMerika spielt werden sie warschienlich auf keinem ENglishen FEstival spielen...Höchstens am Download Festival aber das passt auch nicht wirklich denn da müssten sie am 10 juni spieln, am 11 in Italien und am 12 in der SCHweiz...oder am Glastonbury Festival(24-26 Juni) aber dort wärs auch wieder sehr knapp...Ich lass mich überraschen und wart mal ab... ----------------------------------------------

das kommt mir eigentlich auch komisch vor! Der Ticketverkauf in irland lâuft schon seid längerem! Denke auch das sie nicht alle Festivals in Amerika spielen! lassen wir uns wieder einmal überraschen!

9 GIGS wär auch zu wenig gewesen. Das ist ungefähr so wie man eins in Spanien,eins in Frankreich eins in der Deutschsparchigem gebiet plus je eins im OStblock und in Skandinavien. ----------------------------------------------

Iron Maiden have confirmed appearing in the USA in July/August on this years Ozzfest alongside Black Sabbath. Their “Eddie Rips Up… Europe/North America - Summer 2005 Tour” has already had tremendous on-sale reactions in Europe with tickets for their massive show in Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadim on 9th July recently selling out all 53,500 in just 2½ hours - the second fastest sell-out ever in Sweden’s biggest venue after Bruce Springsteen ! Tickets for their show at Helsinki’s Hartwell Arena on July 6 and 7 went the same way with 22,000 tickets selling out in a day.
Comments singer Bruce Dickinson, “We’ve always had great support there before but this is stepping up another level entirely. This whole tour will be one of the biggest we have ever done in terms in the number of fans we are playing to and if the reaction continues like this every show will be a truly momentous occasion.
“Following the great reception received by our DVD “ The Early Days”, which chronicled the Maiden story over the first four albums, we decided to give the fans a special treat on this Tour by playing materiel almost exclusively from these albums, including a lot of songs that fans have been asking us to play for years along with fan favourites like Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills, Hallowed be thy Name, Wrathchild and The Trooper. And it will be a lot of fun for us playing stuff we haven’t played for years!!

These shows tie in with the earlier release of the hugely acclaimed DVD ‘The History Of Iron Maiden part 1: The Early Days’.

Kann ich mir kaum vorstellen, das ist ja Vorgruppen Spielzeiten. Gerade ne Band wie Maiden, die ein enormes Repetoire haben, wie sollen die denn ansatzweise ihr Schaffen repräsentieren. warum sowas in den USA...warum können die nicht ins schöne Deutschland kommen XD Aber ich weiß nich...Black Sabbath hat schon ein paar geile Sachen...aber ichd enke auch die werden heutzutage nicht mehr so toll rüberkommen...Also ist dann maiden die einzige Band dabei, die mich interessiert. Zu Black Sabbath: Ich finds schade das Ozzy ein Album ausgeschlagen hat aber ich könnte mir vorstellen das wenn die Tournee super lauft und Ozzy das Gefühl wieder bekommt wie in denn 70ger dann wird er sich viellecht umentscheiden...mal sehen ----------------------------------------------

das hat weniger mit Drogen als mit dem Feeling zu tun... wenn es Paranoid oder Iron Man nie gegeben hätte und du würdest es jetzt jemandem vorspielen, würde er dich auslachen und dich fragen was das für ein Dreck ist... Klar sind das trotzdem Klassiker, aber vom Hocker reißt das keinen mehr... zudem sind alle älter geworden und haben sich auch stilistisch weiter entwickelt... siehe auch bei Iron Maiden... das Debut bzw Killers sind mit Brave New World oder Dance of Death nicht mehr zu vergleichen...
