You've been posting and chatting about it for months and we're here now to confirm it . . . Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax will all share the same stage for the first time EVER! Look for the four of us at the Sonisphere shows in Warsaw, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic on June 16 and 19, 2010 with a few more of the festival dates still in the works, you can be sure these shows won't be the only ones.

The world wide web has been abound with speculation on a possible "BIG FOUR" tour for several months. Now, SONISPHERE can exclusively reveal that METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will play together for the first time in history, in a move that will have metalheads across the globe frenzied with excitement.
Says LARS ULRICH/METALLICA of this historic announcement: "Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time...what a mindfuck! Bring it on!"
"It's about fucking time this happened," declares SLAYER's KERRY KING. "and about time the fans finally get what they want. This is fucking awesome."
ANTHRAX guitarist SCOTT IAN agrees, commenting on the enormity of the announcement.
"People have been talking about these four bands playing together since 1984. That's twenty-six years of expectation!!! And the thing is, I believe not only will we live up to the expectations, we will shatter them!! No other four bands as influential as the four of us have ever done this. Imagine if The Beatles, Stones, The Who and Zeppelin had done shows? Or Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Motorhead? Well, I may be getting into some rarified air here but as a fan, that's how big I feel this is."
These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement to dominate the metal world in the 1980s, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. The metal giants have never before all shared the same stage, despite huge demand. But on 16th June 2010, METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will take to the SONISPHERE stage at Bemowo Airport, Poland, to make the dreams of headbangers the world over become a reality. Also mich würd's ja schon reizen, auch wenn Anthrax mich nicht die Bohne interessieren, aber die anderen 3 hab ich bisher noch nicht live gesehen. Bin auch mal gespannt, was noch dazu kommt.

Den Begriff "Big Four" gibt es ja schon seit damals, weil diese vier Bands eben zu der Zeit die größten, beliebtesten Thrash Metal Kapellen waren. "Big" muss ja nicht zwangsläufig auch heißen, dass sie Millionen von Platten verkauft haben wie Metallica...

Weil sie eben als Szenemitbegründer gelten. Die Big Four beziehen sich auf die damalige Szene. Da könnte man eben maximal noch Exodus reinbeziehen, aber das wars dann auch. Anthrax hat da durchaus eine Daseinsberechtigung, wenn ich an Spreading the Disease und Among the Living denke. Und was soll denn bitte "Megadeth für viele sicher auch halten..." heißen. Die sind von den 4 Bands momentan die Beste und haben als einzige zu ihren früheren stärken zurück gefunden.

Okay, danke fuer die Aufklaerung, wusste nicht, dass Anthrax damals auch so eine grosse Nummer waren, ich haette da in der Tat eher an die auch genannten Exodus gedacht, die ja laut vieler Aussagen mit "Bonded by blood" eines der besten Szene-Alben ueberhaupt hervorgebracht hatten. Das mit Megadeth ist lediglich ein persoenlicher Kommentar. Ich erkenne ihren Status und Erfolg an, kann aber persoenlich gar nichts mit ihnen anfangen.

Da wäre ich jetzt auch gerne Dabei. Im Vergleich zu den anderen Orten ist das ja grad um die Ecke. Allerdings könnte das im schlimmsten Fall 3 Tage vor meiner mündlichen Abi-Prüfung sein. Falls das der Fall ist kann ich leider nicht hin

Und Death Angel, Testament, Heathen... Ich weiß selbst, dass die Liste lang ist. Anthrax halte ich aber für deutlich genre-bestimmender als die genannten und außer Exodus hatte auch, außerhalb der Big Four, keine so viel Einfluss.

Das denke ich auch. Die BIG4, dazu noch meine Lieblingsbands Motörhead und Heaven and Hell - geil ! Ich muss nur noch checken ob der Termin passt, aber ich glaub das wird mein Festival 2010 ! Schade dass es nur einen Tag geht. Weiß jemand obs ein Campinggelände in der Nähe gibt ?
118,90 Euro habe ich gerade........ach nee, sind Schweizer Franken. Umgerechnet also knapp 80 Euro.
Möchte nur wissen wie lange die Bands dann spielen und vor allem um welche Zeit dann z.B. Motörhead oder Megadeth spielen. Wäre ja Mist wenn die da mehrere Bühnen haben und man ähnlich wie in Wacken dann Überschneidungen hat.
